And you are invited!!

Hey guys! I'm super excited to show you my newest collection of work inspired by Spring. It was so much fun to explore shapes in nature.

I chose a few round canvases for this new collection. I'm not sure if it's my love of globes that prompted the idea but I think they add something super special to the mix. I love how one of my Instafriends describes the collection: "This whole series is so ethereally beautiful.."

And speaking of beautiful, check out this this gorgeous floral story captured for the May edition of 7huesmag. I had the pleasure of painting a large backdrop for this shoot with Creative Soul Photography and simply amazed at what their team can do with a camera, styling, and everything else it takes to pull off what they do!

ARTIST DATE: DALLAS ARBORETUM & BOTANICAL GARDENS

The warmth of the sun on my skin, the smell of a fresh breeze after newly cut grass, and feeling the earth on my bare feet. There's nothing quite like being in nature in my opinion. Spending more time outside is the one thing I appreciate getting more of after years of working in cubicles and classrooms with no windows all day. Yeesh...

This week I decided to take my little brown self on an Artist Date and really indulge in a #botanicalpickmeup. Just what I needed to draw out the creative juices for new work.

If you've ever read The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron you might already be familiar with the Artist Date. Hopefully, even if you have not read that book you have been unconsciously engaging in these assigned play dates that fire up imagination and give you an opportunity to just explore. With that being said, it's your turn to plan a weekly event to "enchant or woo" your own consciousness regularly. Julia provides tons of examples in her book such as, visiting an art supply shop, writing a letter to a friend, or spending $5 at a thrift store buying something you can get creative with.

What are willing to commit to? Can you think of one weekly date you can take yourself on? Write it down or better yet, drop them in the comments sections below right now and make things official.

Excited to see what you'll do!

xo,

Nikki
